Gulfstream HE150 Heat Pump Pool Heat Pump

Posted May 20, 2015 by - Michelle in Penn Valley, CA California

Our solar cover brought the water temperature up to 80 degrees, which wasn’t adequate for swimming this cool spring, with average daytime air temperatures hovering around 60-70 degrees. Ordering the heat pump was easy and it  was delivered close to where it needed to be installed. Our heating and air conditioning guy installed the heat pump (Thanks Asa, that was a great suggestion) and after less than 14 hours of running time, we were happily swimming in 87 degree water. With the heat pump operating during the daily four hour filtering cycle, our pool is now at 90 degrees even though the air temperature is still quite chilly at night (high 40s). When we start getting our typical June temperatures of high 80s and 90s, I doubt that the heat pump will need to run much at all, but it will keep the water nice and warm for nighttime swimming.

For over a year I had pestered my local pool company with questions about heat pumps and instead, they kept trying to sell me a propane heater. I called other pool companies in the area and was told that it would take a very long time for a heat pump to work and didn’t I want to buy a propane heater instead? Finally I received a bid, which was much higher than I expected. I was a little concerned because the pool company salesman didn’t know much about heat pumps or how they’re installed.

I was very glad to find POOLHEATPUMPS.com and speak with Asa Strong. My husband was getting tired of me trying to talk him into buying a heat pump and finally he gave in when I showed him that the price of the unit Asa suggested was half of what I had been quoted by the local company. My husband was skeptical about how it would work, but now he’s absolutely delighted that he can swim several weeks earlier in the season. I haven’t said, “I told you so” but I’ve been tempted!

Thank you Asa and Mary.
