Aquaculture Water Heating and Cooling
Welcome Aquaculturists and exotic fish enthusiasts!
The application of a breeder tank heat pump for aquaculture water heating is the most energy efficient way to heat up fresh or salt water. You can heat up your pond for only a fraction of the cost that other traditional methods might cost. Each year we receive more and more requests and inquiries for heat pump applications in aquaculture. The benefits are many and your investment will pay back immediately in monthly savings versus gas or electric element heaters.
Why continue to spend large sums of money heating with propane and natural gas when you can employ the efficiencies of a pool heat pump to accomplish your breeder tank heating or cooling needs? When we compare numbers like $.12 KWH vs $1.00 per therm for natural gas we can demonstrate that the operating cost of using a pool heat pump will be half the operating cost of a natural gas pool heater.
When we compare $2.50 per gallon for propane, the operating cost of using a propane pool gas heater will be 4 times as much as the operating cost of a pool heat pump. A pool heat pump transfers heat from the surrounding air. Typically a pool heat pump is transferring 5.5 watts of heat for every 1 watt of electricity it consumes.
Also, the lifespan of a pool heat pump is 10 years plus, while the lifespan of a pool gas heater is 5 years. Why? Because the main component of any pool heater is the heat exchanger. This is the component that comes in contact with the water. In a pool gas heater that heat exchanger is made of copper or an alloy of copper and nickel, which will corrode. In a pool heat pump the heat exchanger is made of titanium and titanium does not corrode. This means you have less to worry about! Titanium being the safest metals to use in fresh or salt water applications to protect the aquatic life from the harmful components or metals like copper that most common heaters have
We like digital display thermostats and quality scroll compressors with titanium heat exchangers all designed to keep the right temperature in warm and in cold weather. These components will assure the longevity and reliability of your equipment and will let you feel at ease knowing that your investment is being taken care of.
We have pool heat pumps in a full range of capacities and models available depending on your application and needs. Our heaters have the capability to not only heat your water, but will cool the water as well (HEAT/COOL versions). We also have pool heat pumps that will chill only (Pool Chillers). We have provided pool heat pumps that both heat and cool to the Bears Bluff National Fish Hatchery in South Carolina, as well as numerous agricultural concerns.
Because of the ability to maintain optimum temperatures and reduce high costs of conventional heating methods, our heat pumps are suitable for:
- Hydroponics Operations
- Research or Government Institutions
- Aquaculture Facilities
- Public Aquariums
- Large Personal Aquariums or Ponds
